Thursday, April 27: Painting
Matthew Bollinger will speak on figurative painting's long history and its influence on his own practice, as well as its intersection with the medium's use in popular forms, from painted book covers to large-scale mural advertisements for films.
Thursday, May 4: Drawing
Creighton Michael's work often asks the fundamental question: "What is drawing?" His presentation will address the discipline from traditional drawing practices to his own experimental investigation of mark-making.
Thursday, May 11: Photography
William Abranowicz's stunning images have graced the walls of The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the cover of Architectural Digest. In this lecture, the artist will trace the constellation of photography greats who have shaped his eye.
Wednesday, May 17: Sculpture
Sheila Pepe is best known for her large-scale, ephemeral installations and sculpture made from domestic and industrial materials. For the KMA, Pepe will explore not only her art historical influences, but the accepted canon that her work radically disrupts.
